Are mermaids real?
No one really knows for sure.
Do entire civilizations of merfolk live in enchanted underwater castles and cities in societies a lot like ours?
Maybe since the ocean is so vast and deep, merfolk have managed to remain hidden. In fact, scientists suspect that approximately 90 percent of the ocean is unexplored. That leaves a lot of ocean where mermaids can hide!
Even though lots of people have seen mermaids, no one can absolutely prove they exist. On the other hand, no one can fully prove that they don’t exist either.
We do have eyewitness accounts. Even famous people have seen mermaids. Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer who discovered America, wrote in his journal that once while he was exploring the Caribbean, he saw three mermaids rise high out of the water. The sight must have been thrilling! But Columbus was disappointed. He didn’t find them beautiful or enchanting at all. I think he must have seen mermen instead!
Henry Hudson, who discovered the Hudson Bay in the United States, saw a mermaid in 1608. In his journal he described her as having white, pale skin and long, black hair. Her tail was shaped like a porpoise, and speckled like a mackerel.
And John Smith, an American explorer who was a friend of Pocahontas, actually fell in love with a mermaid! The story goes that John saw a lovely maiden swimming and immediately felt the first stirrings of love. Apparently he found her long green hair quite attractive! He was talking and flirting with her from aboard the ship when he was jolted by something shocking. From the waist down, she was a fish!
Those sightings happened centuries ago, but people still see mermaids in our day. Glimpses have been specifically reported in the 20th and 21st centuries in Canada, Israel, and Zimbabwe. Truly, throughout the centuries, countless numbers of sailors have reported seeing a mermaid swimming off the bows of their ships in every ocean around the globe.
Scientists believe that the sightings are cases of misidentification—that people are actually seeing manatees, dugongs, or some other ocean species.
Columbus, they say, saw three manatees. Most people laugh at that theory saying someone would have to be at sea an awfully long time to think that a manatee is a woman or mermaid—or have really bad eyesight! I think that someone who had been on the ocean as much as Columbus would have seen manatees before and would know the difference.
A few years ago, Animal Planet aired two documentaries that claimed to have proof and scientific evidence that mermaids exist. Unfortunately, the “scientists” that were interviewed on the show were actually actors. People were angry and confused. Were the shows real or fake? Do mermaids exist or don’t they? Finally the United States government issued an official statement: “no credible evidence of the existence of mermaids has ever been found.”
But what is out there in that mostly unexplored world of the ocean? Could evidence that mermaids exist someday be found?

Truth be told….mermaids are not all so good,they are indeed real,talking from experience,i have seen1 and i was taken by1 some years ago,i know a place where you can see them and a few tricks to communicate with them….i know how to call upon a mermaid and they kinda taught me how to see them if need be…..the information i have is worthy a lot so i will not just publish it,instead i am willing to give it only to true mermaid lovers…

90 percent of that ocean is undiscovered. Mermaids are alive because they couldn’t be hit by an Astroid cause there mermaids, a kind can’t JUST go extinct! I do believe that mermaids are out there and all different kinds. And where u actually taken by a mermaid?

If you want your book to be Published you have to wish it and see and just let you know I am meraid I live on land it is not easy but I make it work I can’t get close to water I a have to have gloves on alll day

I don’t rlly believe it because in all the books about mermaid legends, some say that unlike shows they can’t go on land but some types can. And all mermaids have pods except for the ones that have been destroyed. I truly believe in mermaids and I hate that people say “ ur 11 mermaids are fake” I answer where’s ur proof and they say where’s urs? So if u get wet at all do u just transform? My dream is to be a mermaid when I touch water and when I dry I’m a human

I think mermaids are real. For one thing there are spells online and In the comment section People are clearly stating that these spells WORK. Also, like they most scientists say 90•\• of the worlds oceans have NOT been explored. But on the other hand mermaid sightings could just be a person, but a big fish could be behind them. But that is what my friend says. I believe in mermaids 100•\• And They could be living on the bumuded triangle or something. I should know because I am a mermaid. Shape shifter.

mermaid!! those people that believe it exits should prove that us with full evidence.
i have a couple of question to ask
1. Do you they have lungs like those of human being? if yes how do they breath inside the ocean?
2. Are they cool blooded or warm blood animal?
3. what does mermaid eat inside the water?

I do believe in mermaids and actually I have always wanted to be a mermaid since y was young! I don’t agree on people saying that the don’t exist because we have the same amount of evidence to prove that they do exist or that they don’t. May be some one had played a prank on you all ,hahaha because mermaids never comes to populated beachs,they can be found in a deserted area of sea and now think you would be a billionaire this time if you have sold those photos to the media etc which you didn’t proves that you are jus making it up .Sorry I know that it’s rise by I can’t myself because m a straight forward person.Thankingyou
