How to do an easy, quick Mermaid Crown Braid! This hairdo is perfect for an everyday mermaid, or for our “under the sea” type of mermaids and works for long or short hair!
This braid is easy to do and looks MERmazing!
1. Separate the front portion of hair (the part that will become your braid) from the back portion (the portion that will be left out). If you have shorter hair it will be easier if you section out a smaller front portion.
If you are doing this braid on yourself it may be easier to use a clip and secure the section of hair that you will be leaving out of your braid.
2. Separate hair into 3 strands above one ear and begin a French braid, you can start on the right or left side. In this video tutorial we started from the right. You can also change this braid up by doing different types of braids across the head. Fishtail, four strand, or even a Dutch braid would all be perfect for mermaid hair!
3.Once you have completed braiding across the head, secure the braid with a bobby pin at the end of the braid.
To make this braid appear bigger you can “fluff’ the braid. To do this gently tug at parts of the braid to make it appear larger. Spray the ‘fluffed’ braid with a hairspray to make sure your style keeps it’s shape.
You can wear this braid alone or add it to a pony tail or bun to dress up your hairstyle. The possibilities are endless! We can’t wait to see your versions of the Mermaid Crown.
